Dallas, TX – May 25, 2017 – Athletes in Acting Awards (AIAA), an awards program and brainchild of founder Larry York honoring professional sportsmen/sportswomen, sports journalists and sports franchise owners performing in/on television, films, radio, print/outdoor advertising and the performing arts, has received a major online presence boost in the form of a dynamic new website. Aptly located at www.AthletesinActingAwards.com, the site provides everything there is to know about the program, the founder, ways to enter and more, with the primary pages of the web portal divided amongst Home, About, Awards, How to Enter, AIAA Speaking Engagements/Services, AIAA Spotlights, Photo Gallery, About the Founder and Contact sections.

“AIAA’s mission is to promote and honor excellence in performance and production of professional sportsmen/sportswomen, journalists and sports franchise owners in the international advertising, media, performing arts industries and other sports industry personnel,” explains York. “As a bridge for the gap between sports entertainment and Hollywood’s traditional performance infrastructure, AIAA’s intent is to expand the ‘world of sports’ fan base and endorsement opportunities, all while giving back to the community with sponsored in-kind and financial donations and honoring advertising agencies and production shops for their creativity in producing, directing and writing projects involving professional sportsmen/sportswomen and other sports figures.”

York stresses that the organization serves as a means to promote advertising and media industries, as well as provide product and “star power” to other showbusiness formats in addition to athletics, acting as a “crucible” to encourage sports figures to perfect their performance skills beyond the football fields, ice rinks, basketball courts and baseball diamonds.

Further, Athletes in Acting Awards personnel have derived a diverse group of current and former professional sports figures who have graduated from college, played college/professional sports at the highest levels and often times experienced the pitfalls associated with becoming a professional – or pro prospect – athlete, such as divorce, bankruptcy and/or unemployment. “Many student sportsmen/sportswomen and their families often lack the education, confidence and resources to know what questions to ask, which direction to go and what answers to receive when it comes to life-altering choices,” adds York. “We encourage businesses, families and anyone working with aspiring student-sports figures to contact us for guidance, as we can supply them with an athlete who has been on the front lines of the sports battlefields and in front offices of professional sports franchises and players associations, on ESPN, on other sports networks and in the world of professional financing.

Born in Hitchcock, Texas and educated in the Galveston Independent School District, York moved to Los Angeles to meet an objective of creating programs that educate, impact and assist those in need via sports and entertainment event planning, public relations and broadcast ventures. By 1977, he was a promoter/special events coordinator for Women in Tennis/Women in Sports, Inc. in Beverly Hills, owned and operated by women’s tennis pioneer Rosie Casals – fast-forward to January of 2017, when he created AIAA, a pro sports version of the Emmys, Oscars, Tonys, ESPYs and Clio Awards all combined into one.

The years 2012 and 2013 were especially proud moments for York, as he wrapped up the first-ever “live” broadcasts of the 43rd and 44th Rotary Lombardi Awards honoring top college lineman in the country, as shown on the CBS Sports Network. The event was hosted and executive-produced by acclaimed sportscaster and NFL Super Bowl winner Spencer Tillman, with York serving as coordinating producer, associate director and assistant stage manager of the awards program.

Prior to the Lombardi Awards, York was also an event manager for the NFL’s Super Bowl XXXVIII Fan Experience in Houston.
